Position Overview

Ultimate Staffing is actively seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join a reputable client in California. The Senior Accountant plays a crucial role in supporting the Controller by managing the day-to-day accounting operations of the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians (PRCI) and affiliated entities. This position is responsible for performing advanced accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and supporting both the month-end and year-end close processes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial transactions.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Perform complex balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain and review general ledger activity for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and internal reports.
  • Support audit preparation, including gathering documentation and responding to auditor requests.
  • Monitor accounting processes to ensure compliance with established internal controls and procedures.
  • Provide guidance and day-to-day support to Staff Accountant and Accounts Payable functions.
  • Review work for accuracy and completeness prior to Controller review.
  • Assist in maintaining accounting systems and ensuring data integrity.
  • Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the Controller to ensure consistent accounting practices across entities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting and reconciliations.
  • Experience supporting month-end close processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and accounting systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background investigation.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid California driver's license and insurable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or progress toward certification.
  • Experience in governmental, Tribal, or nonprofit accounting.
  • Experience with multi-entity accounting environments.
  • Familiarity with grant accounting and fund tracking.
  • Experience with accounting systems such as Intacct or similar platforms.

Required Work Hours

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Additional Details

Salary range: $75,000 - $92,000 annually (Midpoint: $83,500).
